The Hardap Dam in Namibia has received lots of new water! Last week, more than 21 million cubic meters of water flowed into the dam, raising the water level to 22.1% full. Last year, the dam didn't have enough water for farmers to use, but things are looking better.
Another big dam, Neckartal, also received fresh water. It filled up with more than 700,000 cubic meters of water, making it almost 80% full. This is wonderful news for people living nearby who need water.
Many other dams across Namibia saw their water levels go up. The Swakoppoort Dam collected nearly 2 million cubic meters of water, filling it to 27.4%. The Von Bach Dam added 840,000 cubic meters, reaching 26.3% full. Even the Omatako Dam, which was very empty, received some water and reached 5.3% full.
Mr. Ndamanomhata from the Namibia Water Corporation shared more good news. He said they started moving water from the Swakoppoort Dam to the Von Bach Dam on February 9th, which will help provide more water to people living in Windhoek and nearby areas.
The water company wants everyone to keep saving water even though the dams are filling up. They say it's important to use water carefully to make sure there's enough for everyone. This rain has helped many places in Namibia have more water for drinking and farming.
