Hariharan has shared a rare family moment with President Droupadi Murmu, and four generations were part of the visit. The singer posted photos from Rashtrapati Bhavan, where his relatives joined him for a special meeting with India's head of state.
The family brought a gift with a musical touch. Murmu received a custom turntable along with a special vinyl release of The Anthem – Vande Mataram. For Hariharan, the gesture was a way to express his love for his country through the art he knows best.
One part of the visit meant a great deal to him. His mother, Alamelu Mani, had a warm exchange with the President, and he recalled that interaction with clear affection. Having several generations of his family there made the occasion even more personal.
On social media, the veteran vocalist spoke of his gratitude for the welcome and kindness they received. He regarded the meeting as a major family honor, made even more meaningful by the President's blessings.
Music was at the heart of his message. Hariharan sees his work as a way of giving back to India, and he linked that belief to the gift his family had brought. He closed his post with a patriotic salute through Vande Mataram.
His career gives that sentiment plenty of context. Since entering the music scene in the 1980s, Hariharan has sung across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and several other languages, building a name for his vocal range and style.
Listeners may know him from Tu Hi Re in Bombay, Roja Jaaneman in Roja, or Baahon Ke Darmiyaan from Khamoshi. Those tracks remain among his most recognized film songs.
His contribution to Indian music also earned him the Padma Shri, one of the country's civilian honors. Away from the awards and performances, the Rashtrapati Bhavan visit gave him a chance to share a personal milestone with his family.
