Heidi O’Neill left the Spotify board ahead of the Lululemon CEO role

Heidi O'Neill left Spotify's board on September 3 to become Lululemon CEO five days later. Her departure wasn't due to disagreements, according to SEC filings, and Daniel Ek praised her nine-year tenure shaping consumer strategy since before the company went public. She served as an independent director on the People Experience & Compensation Committee alongside Martin Lorentzon and Shishir Mehrotra.

Lululemon announced her appointment April 22, but a Nike non-compete agreement delayed her start date by four and a half months. She succeeds Calvin McDonald, who stepped down January 31, 2026, while Meghan Frank and André Maestrini served as interim co-CEOs during the transition. O'Neill spent 26 years at Nike before retiring in September 2025 as President of Consumer, Product and Brand.

Nike had split her division into three areas reporting to CEO Elliott Hill in May 2025. Lululemon reported Q2 net revenue down 4% year-over-year to $2.4 billion and cut full-year guidance to $10.35-$10.5 billion. The board now has 11 directors, with no replacement named yet. O'Neill also sits on Hyatt Hotels and Lithia Motors boards.
