HMS Venturer Launch Marks Major Step in UK's £1.25B Warship Program

Britain's newest warship HMS Venturer touched water for the first time at a Scottish shipyard. The Royal Navy vessel represents a major step forward for the country's military shipbuilding program. Babcock company built the frigate at their Rosyth facility near Edinburgh. The launch marks progress on a contract worth 1.25 billion pounds to build five similar warships. Officials say the moment shows Britain can still make advanced naval vessels at home.

The Type 31 frigate will handle many different jobs around the world. HMS Venturer can help with security missions and emergency aid work. The ship takes its name from a World War Two submarine that made history underwater. Poland and Indonesia have also chosen this warship design for their own navies. The success proves British ships can compete against foreign rivals.

Workers will finish adding equipment and systems to HMS Venturer over the coming months. The ship must pass harbor tests and ocean trials before joining active service. All five frigates should be ready for duty before 2030 arrives. The program helps rebuild Britain's ability to make warships after years of decline. Defense officials want more contracts to keep shipyards busy and workers employed.
