Home Adviser confident in law and order ahead of elections

Bangladesh's interior security chief dismissed concerns about potential instability surrounding the upcoming parliamentary elections, asserting that public safety conditions have strengthened substantially since the interim administration assumed power. Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury acknowledged that political activity would intensify as the electoral calendar advances but expressed confidence in maintaining order.

The retired military officer addressed seismic preparedness following multiple tremors that killed ten people and damaged structures across the nation. Authorities plan to establish mobile alert systems similar to international models that provide warnings before ground shaking begins. Chowdhury emphasized enforcing construction regulations and directed urban planners to scrutinize development proposals for sites built over reclaimed wetlands.

Fire service personnel have managed minor emergencies adequately, though their capacity to handle catastrophic seismic events remains untested, the home adviser noted during remarks at the secretariat complex after chairing a security coordination session.
