Instead, they say, 'Learn how to use a compressor' or 'Understand what each one does' without providing actual guidance. Everyone's selling information nowadays, leaving learners without genuine support. I would love to see more practical tutorials and explanations!

Considering that there are four types of compression inherited from the era of analog technology, plus digital, that countless device emulations are offered, and that we work with fluid matter, it is difficult for anyone to give an exact recipe for the desired sound described in textual terms. So use your hearing.

The best tutorial is to pick a compressor. Overuse it and use too much of it so you can hear what it’s doing to the instrument/sound. Turn the knobs significantly. Your ear will get trained.

And yet, the standard of non-pros is very low. People are looking for shortcuts, and few want to put in the work. This is very sad.
