Hybe's Bang Si-hyuk questioned by Seoul police

Police questioned Bang Si-hyuk on Monday regarding accusations that he earned unfair profits worth 190 billion won during Hybe's public listing process. The Hybe chairman and founder faced interrogation at the Seoul Metropolitan Police's Mapo office as authorities investigate potential violations of the Capital Market Act. Bang expressed regret to reporters and promised full cooperation with the investigation. Authorities suspect Bang misled investors during 2019 by claiming the company had no public offering plans while encouraging them to sell shares to his affiliated private equity fund. Police believe Hybe was already preparing for its market debut when these transactions occurred.

Investigators allege Bang secured 190 billion won through the private equity fund's subsequent share sales after the public offering commenced. The probe started late last year when authorities began examining the circumstances surrounding the company's listing. Police seized relevant documents from the Korea Exchange during June before conducting raids at Hybe's main offices the following month.
