Cabasa also corrected statements about Wizkid starting as a local singer until Akon helped him. The record maker clarified that Banky W discovered Wizkid first and signed him to Empire Mates Entertainment. Akon later partnered with them for music distribution, but did not shape Wizkid's career. Cabasa believes Akon misunderstood his business deals as creating the entire music movement. He reminded everyone that Afrobeats represents a cultural legacy rather than a business product.
