IDF brings home bodies of three slain hostages

Israeli soldiers brought back three dead hostages from Gaza on Sunday night. The army worked with security forces to find the bodies using smart detective work. Ofra Keidar was 71 years old when Hamas fighters killed her at Kibbutz Be'eri on October 7, 2023. Jonathan Samerano was just 22 and had run away from the Nova music party before bad guys caught him at Be'eri. Staff Sergeant Shay Levinson was 19 and drove tanks near Gaza when Hamas attacked and killed him.

The military used special information from spy groups to locate where the bodies were hidden. Soldiers from the Gaza Division went into dangerous areas to bring the three people home. Doctors at Abu Kabir will check the bodies to make sure they have the right people. The families already know their loved ones came back to Israel. All three victims died during the terrible attack that happened more than a year ago.

Terror groups still keep 50 people as prisoners inside Gaza. Most of these captives got taken during the same October attack that killed thousands of Israelis. Army leaders think 28 of the hostages have already died and 20 might still be breathing. Two other people have unclear situations that nobody can figure out right now. Hamas also keeps one soldier's body from fighting that happened back in 2014.
