Imo, PDP dismisses the Ibadan convention as an illegal gathering

The opposition faction in Imo State has rejected a leadership convention held in Ibadan, characterizing the assembly as an unauthorized meeting that violated party regulations. Officials praised the electoral commission for declining to observe the proceedings, which they said confirmed their stance on constitutional compliance.

State representatives affirmed their backing for FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as the organization's national leader, alongside Abdulrahman Mohammed as acting national chairman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu as national secretary. Local chairman Austine Nwachukwu received full endorsement from regional stakeholders.

The group emphasized that Wike's decade of service warrants recognition at the highest level. Senator Mao Ohuabunwa was endorsed for the board of trustees chairmanship while members called for adherence to internal democratic procedures.
