INEC still teaching clueless political parties how to fill forms

Nigeria's electoral commission conducted specialized training sessions for political party representatives this week at its Abuja headquarters. The Independent National Electoral Commission focused the two-day workshop on the proper use of its digital candidate nomination system. Party officials learned updated procedures for submitting candidate information through the electronic portal. The training addressed recurring problems with incomplete applications and document processing errors. INEC designed the sessions to prepare parties for upcoming federal territory council races and special elections.

National Commissioner May Agbamuche-Mbu stressed that candidate nomination forms the foundation of electoral integrity under current law. Political parties continue struggling with technical submission requirements despite previous system improvements. The commission identified frequent staff changes within party organizations as a persistent challenge affecting nomination quality. Workshop facilitators demonstrated live portal navigation to prevent common mistakes from past election cycles. Officials emphasized collaborative dialogue between electoral authorities and party representatives.

Samuel Omale from the legal department explained that the training targeted both experienced and newly appointed party staff members. The commission divided participants into smaller working groups for hands-on practice sessions. Legal and technology departments jointly supervised the interactive demonstrations. INEC is committed to providing ongoing technical support following the workshop's completion. The initiative reinforces the commission's broader strategy of integrating technology into electoral processes.
