Intel Battlemage GPU Leak Sends Gamers Into Frenzy

Intel's Battlemage graphics chips appeared inside Linux driver software that helps computers display images. Programmers found four different identification codes for the BMG G31 processor. Intel added these codes about two weeks ago for their upcoming Arc graphics cards. The company plans to launch Battlemage graphics during late 2025.

The four identification numbers might represent different versions of the same basic chip design. Software developers also discovered two additional codes but cannot determine their exact purpose. These graphics processors could power either consumer gaming cards or professional workstation models. Intel used similar approaches with previous graphics chip families.

Recent shipping documents mentioned the G31 processor during early May this year. Computer industry sources suggested the Arc B770 graphics card would arrive during the fourth quarter. Engineers detected another Intel graphics chip that supports faster PCIe 5.0 connections. Experts cannot confirm whether this new chip belongs to the Battlemage family or represents a different graphics product line.
