Kenya's medical union announced that all intern doctors will receive their full salary of 206,000 shillings per month. The union leader Davji Atellah confirmed that 1,800 medical interns will get paid according to their employment agreements. These doctors work as medical officers, dentists, and pharmacists across the country. Other medical trainees will earn money based on their specific job categories. The union wants to protect the dignity of these young doctors and keep them motivated.

Health Minister Aden Duale earned praise from the medical union for ending months of protests and strikes. Atellah said Duale delivered results for both patients and healthcare workers across Kenya. The new minister promised to continue improving the health system and fight corruption cartels. Duale declared that protecting Kenyan health remains his top priority. He vowed to eliminate groups that have damaged medical services for ordinary citizens.

Medical interns had spent months protesting after the government slashed their pay from 206,000 to 70,000 shillings. Officials claimed they lacked money to pay the higher salaries to young doctors. Many interns remained unpaid or without job assignments despite promises to restore their original wages. The medical union threatened more strikes until the government honors all contract terms. Young doctors faced extreme stress from salary cuts, delayed payments, exhausting 36-hour work shifts, and some cases of suicide linked to financial problems.
