iPhone 16 Base Beats Pros to Top Phone Charts

Apple's basic iPhone 16 became the top-selling phone during early 2025. Counterpoint Research released sales data showing surprising results for the quarter. The cheaper model beat both expensive iPhone 16 Pro versions. Customers opted for the standard version over the premium options. Apple phones filled five spots on the best-seller list.

Buyers compared features and decided against paying extra money for Pro models. The iPhone 16 uses the same A18 processor and 8GB of memory as the costly versions. Performance stays nearly identical between all iPhone 16 models. The main differences are fewer cameras and slower screen refresh rates. Most people found that these upgrades did not justify higher prices.

Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra reached seventh place among all phones sold. The older iPhone 15 still performed well and landed in fourth position. Samsung's budget Galaxy A16 5G took fifth place overall. Chinese government subsidies helped cheaper phones compete against Apple. The iPhone 16 Plus sold poorly and finished last on the popularity chart.
