iPhone Parts Turn F1 Car into Ultimate Movie Camera

Apple used iPhone parts to film scenes for the F1 movie. The company built a special camera module that looks nothing like a regular phone. Engineers took out the car's normal cameras and put their custom device inside instead. The module contains iPhone camera sensors and batteries but runs on modified software.

Racing cars move extremely fast and shake constantly. Regular smartphone cameras cannot handle these tough conditions at all. Apple's team had to test their device against shock, vibration, and extreme heat. The module passed all Formula One safety requirements without any problems.

The custom camera runs iOS but uses special firmware for recording. It captures video using Apple's ProRes codec format. This gives film editors much more control when they adjust colors and lighting later. The quality matches what professional movie cameras can produce.

The module cannot connect to wireless networks on its own. Filmmakers must use a special iPad app to control the camera remotely. They connect the devices through a USB-C cable to make adjustments. The app lets them change frame rates, exposure settings, and white balance during filming.
