Elvis Nduibisi Iruh, who runs The Voice News Magazine out of the Netherlands, told Nigerian media people they need to stop pushing stories that make the country look bad. He thinks the negative coverage scares off investors and makes Africa look worse than it actually is. The guy was in Lagos announcing the 2025 Voice Achievers Awards and complained that the Nigerian government basically ghosted him after he sent letters about the event back in June.
The awards ceremony is happening at Eko Hotel with speakers from the Dutch Embassy and some former diplomats. The whole thing centers on changing how people view doing business in Africa by looking at the relationships between Nigeria and the Netherlands. Iruh pointed out that there are plenty of successful Nigerians worth celebrating instead of just focusing on problems, and he seemed pretty annoyed that the Dutch government helped fund the event while his own country ignored him.
