The Jacksonville Jaguars announced on Friday that rookie wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter will be placed on injured reserve after suffering a non-contact knee injury during practice.
Head coach Liam Coen said the team is still assessing Hunter’s injury to determine the best course of action for both him and the team. Hunter, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has been playing as a two-way player since Week 1. In seven games this season, he recorded 28 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown on offense, along with 15 tackles and three passes defended on defense.
Coen described the injury as a setback but expressed confidence in Hunter’s ability to recover. “It’s definitely not ideal timing, but I have a lot of belief in Travis as a person, as a competitor, to come back better than ever,” he said. With Hunter out, the Jaguars are expected to rely more on players like Brian Thomas Jr., Dyami Brown, and Parker Washington at receiver, potentially leading to tactical adjustments on both sides of the ball.
