Politics met church-basement energy as a first lady pushed votes hard. Janet Kataaha Museveni, serving as First Lady and Education and Sports minister, urged women across the Busoga sub-region to rally behind the NRM and back President Museveni during the upcoming general elections, pitching the message as protection for family futures.
The appeal reached the crowd through Dr. Specioza Wandira Kazibwe, an ex-vice president and senior presidential health adviser, who said the NRM track record centers on women-focused programs. She framed the party as a steady bet for women’s growth and asked the group to stick with it.
The gathering happened in Luuka District, where women linked to an initiative led by Dorothy Kisaka, an ex-KCCA executive director, met with the leadership. Janet Museveni pressed women to act as examples for economic change and moral conduct, while steering clear of divisive politics, cash handouts, and empty tactics.
Kazibwe added that mothers carry the responsibility of shaping strong values at home. Janet Museveni also praised Kisaka for launching the women’s program, saying it lifted economic well-being across Busoga.
Kisaka said the effort targets model homes across 11 districts and Jinja City, with attention on household health, hygiene, and saving habits. The setup relies on 12 savings groups set within each village.
Religious leaders such as Rev. Canon Moses Bikange and Rev. Cosam Tuliraba called for unity, calm, and cooperation. District leaders attending the event pledged continued NRM support, pointing to development gains credited to the party in the region.
