Few people voted at Nakabolelwa polling station during Tuesday morning elections for Kabbe South constituency. Only 50 registered voters had cast ballots at 8:30 AM. Zambezi electoral officer Lesley Simwanza noted similar poor attendance at other voting locations across the area. Election workers arrived on time and operations ran smoothly despite the low numbers. Officials expected more voters to show up as the day continued.
Swapo candidate Raymond Sezuni cast his vote early and asked residents to participate. Former constituency councillor John Likando also voted and praised the number of polling stations available. Electoral Commission of Namibia deployed 127 polling officials on Sunday afternoon to manage the election. Workers formed 24 fixed teams with five members each and two police officers. Seven mobile teams planned to visit more than 16 villages throughout the constituency.
The Kabbe South constituency registered 3,509 voters who can choose a new councillor. Likando left the seat empty after moving to the National Council position. Two candidates compete for the role. Sezuni represents Swapo and Sydney Shamwazi runs for Independent Patriots for Change.
