Kangole clash leaves four civilians and three cops bleeding in Napak

Violence erupted between law enforcement and residents during a late-night patrol in Kangole town council within Napak district on Friday evening. Officers encountered a group engaged in loud musical activities and political campaigning around 11 pm. The confrontation escalated when police demanded the cessation of noise violations after permitted hours. Civilians responded by hurling stones at the patrol team, prompting officers to discharge firearms skyward as a dispersal tactic. Seven people sustained injuries during the altercation.

Mt. Moroto Regional police spokesperson Mike Longole reported that stray ammunition wounded four local residents during the incident. The injured civilians received identification as Elijah Akol, Paul Losike, Simon Ilukol, and an individual known only as Badu. Three law enforcement personnel also required medical attention following the stone-throwing attack. Kangole health centre III provided treatment for all wounded parties from both sides. Medical staff attended to the various injuries sustained during the confrontation.

Authorities initiated an investigation to determine responsibility for instigating the violent encounter. Longole emphasized that officers attempted to maintain public order and enforce noise regulations when the situation deteriorated. The spokesperson explained that crowd hostility forced police to resort to weapons deployment for self-protection. Officials work to identify individuals who encouraged aggressive behavior against the patrol team. The incident highlights ongoing tensions between law enforcement duties and community activities in the region.
