Karim Salim Salaam named Touch CEO as Lebanon preps 5G push

Touch appointed Karim Salim Salaam as chairman and chief executive officer for a one-year term during the Ordinary General Assembly on Tuesday. Minister of Telecommunications Charles El Hajj attended the meeting where shareholders elected Ali Yassin, Jawad Nakad, Hisham Al-Ashkar, and Marwan Zantout to serve on the board of directors for one year. El Hajj directed the board to expand broadband infrastructure and advance preparations for fifth-generation wireless technology as Lebanon positions itself as a regional digital center.

The minister instructed board members to improve network coverage in areas with increasing demand before the holiday season when expatriates and tourists arrive in Lebanon. The telecommunications strategy emphasizes creating revenue streams through digital services, and establishing sustainable business models to increase company profits. El Hajj said service quality improvements should meet subscriber requirements across voice and data networks.
