Youth groups across the North Bank Region push for dedicated funding from local government coffers. ActionAid International partners with the UN Peacebuilding Fund to secure five percent of the Kerewan Area Council's development budget for youth and sports programs. The two-year initiative partners with the Department of Youth and Sports, the Safe Home for Migrants Association, and the Global Platform in The Gambia. Officials met Thursday at the Governor's Bantaba in Kerewan to discuss budget priorities. ActionAid trained twelve Village Development Committees across Lower Nuimi, Jokadou, and Lower Badibou districts.

Planning Director Alasan Keita urged youth representatives to create detailed activity plans for fund allocation guidance. Vice Chairman Alagie K. Saho noted that council policy reviews must align with the requirements of the Local Government Act. Regional Youth Coordinator Lamin Sima called the meeting timely for addressing youth development needs. The council previously contributed 650,000 dalasi during the last national youth conference.
