Kwara Clamps Down on Rogue Okada and Tricycle Riders

Kwara lawmakers want the state government to register all transport unions to keep out bad actors. The request came after a lawmaker brought up concerns about motorcycle and tricycle operators. The state House asked for a mandatory registration system with identity checks, biometric data, and ID numbers for all commercial riders.

The Assembly also urged the governor to make riders take drug tests through partnerships with anti-narcotics agencies. Lawmakers noted some riders help carry out crimes like robbery, kidnapping, and drug trafficking. They asked police to enforce the 9 pm curfew for motorcycle and tricycle operators on Kwara roads.

The House believes these steps will help stop criminals from using commercial transport as cover. They also want public awareness campaigns about crime risks in the state. The Assembly hopes these measures will keep residents safe from transport-related threats.
