Lagos set for DJ marathon, 96 hours of nonstop beach beats

Lagos is about to throw what might be the continent's wildest beach party with 100 DJs spinning back-to-back for 96 straight hours from late December through early January. Afroxela CEO Buchi Henry Mbagwu said the whole thing started when people at a Portugal festival kept asking about Detty December, and everyone wanted to see why Lagos never stops partying. The marathon tries to break the current 55-hour record by having DJs rotate every hour without any breaks.

The event runs right through the New Year crossover since Mbagwu figured people are just sitting around after Christmas waiting for the big countdown anyway. He wants to showcase the people who actually make parties happen instead of just focusing on performers, and the timing puts Nigeria in the global spotlight when cities like Dubai and New York are doing their celebrations.
