Landslide cleanup speeds up, as Troyan Pass awaits reopening

Road crews are clearing a landslide that blocked the Troyan Pass near Karnare village on the II-35 highway connecting Troyan with the area. Five machines are working the site at the 117-kilometer mark after heavy rain dumped enough water to send rocks and dirt sliding onto the road. Workers from the Regional Road Administration in Plovdiv showed up to help speed things along.

The Road Infrastructure Agency said drivers can check conditions on their website or call a hotline while the pass stays closed. Officials want people to chill out on risky passing moves once traffic opens back up.
