Legislator Makumbe Acquitted as Testimony Is Inconsistent

The court cleared Tsungai Makumbe from all rape allegations yesterday after the judge found major problems with the story told by the young woman. Harare judge Clever Tsikwa dismissed the case against the Mazowe North lawmaker because he believed the 23-year-old woman lied repeatedly during her testimony. The judge specifically mentioned how her statements contained numerous falsehoods and contradicted themselves throughout the trial. Attorney John Ndomene stood beside Makumbe throughout the legal proceedings that ended with complete vindication for his client.
