Lilongwe biz owners told to add security lights

Lilongwe City Council asks all businesses to install security lights around their buildings. Many people called the council about safety issues throughout the city.

Shoppers and store owners face danger in busy areas like Malangalanga, Bwalolanjobvu, Old Town, and downtown. Most scary things happen after dark when criminals can hide in the shadows.

Based on the council's latest rules, every business has fourteen days to add these lights. The council made this clear when it discussed making streets safer for everyone.

City leaders plan to create a better Lilongwe for both shop owners and residents living nearby. They believe brighter streets will reduce crime and help people feel safe again.
