Lord Collins Lands in Harare for Kings 75th Blowout

Britain's Africa Minister Lord Collins travels to Harare for King Charles III's early birthday party on Wednesday. The King turns 75 in November but Britain celebrates during warmer weather. Officials will mark the occasion as relations between the countries grow warmer. The visit shows good faith after years of bad blood between London and Harare. Problems started over human rights and land policies under Robert Mugabe.

Britain recently removed Zimbabwean officials from punishment lists. Owen Ncube and Isaac Moyo came off the sanctions roster along with police chief Godwin Matanga. The move signals changing British policy toward Zimbabwe. Europe and America have also eased restrictions on the African nation. Collins met Zimbabwe's Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube at recent African Development Bank meetings.

Political expert Ruben Mbofana says President Mnangagwa wants to restore old ties with Britain. The government seeks international backing for compensation promises to former white farmers. Another analyst Stephen Chan calls the policy shift practical rather than strategic. He believes Zimbabwe matters less to Britain as global conflicts take priority. The birthday celebration represents careful steps toward better relations between the former allies.
