Luxshare Eyes US Shift to Dodge Tariffs

Apple faces challenges with import taxes since its products come from abroad. Reports indicate Apple won't shift production to America despite the cost pressure. Instead, one major supplier might bring factories to the US because of Trump's new import fees.

Luxshare, which makes high-end iPhones, AirPods, Apple Watches, and Vision Pro headsets, has started looking at American manufacturing options. The company chairwoman Wang Laichun told analysts these tariffs won't hurt them much short-term because they send limited products directly to America. She mentioned they need between 12-18 months to set up new production lines where they already operate facilities.

The supplier currently runs factories across Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Mexico, and America but has minimal US presence. Wang pointed out that hardware makers typically don't cover tariff costs themselves, suggesting prices might increase for consumers. She didn't share exact locations or timelines for possible US expansion plans. The company aims to balance existing Chinese operations with new global facilities to avoid future trade problems.
