M Media Audio released West Coaster and Howdy Compressor, two bus compressors priced at $49 and $29. The pair also lands in a $9 bundle deal.
West Coaster uses dual-channel optical compression with slow, program-aware detection. Each side gets threshold, attack from 3 to 300 ms, release from 40 to 2000 ms, Auto timing, and four ratios. Users also get external sidechain input, stereo, dual, and mid-side routing, linked controls, Auto-Level, VU meters, and light second-harmonic saturation.
Howdy Compressor takes the faster VCA route. Attack reaches 2 ms, ratio tops out at 6:1, and Auto-Release joins independent channel controls. Its animated cat head follows host tempo, while the VU needles resize with level. Eleven presets ship with it.
Windows 10 and 11, macOS 11 Big Sur or newer, and Ubuntu 22.04 or newer are supported through VST3. Mac users also get AU, Intel support, Apple Silicon support, and a universal binary.
