Ghana has formally installed Paul Baffoe-Bonnie as Chief Justice following a ceremony at the Jubilee House, marking a transition in judicial leadership after his predecessor was suspended and later removed. Parliament approved his appointment with 163 lawmakers supporting the nomination against 69 opposing votes.
Baffoe-Bonnie had been serving in an acting capacity since April after accumulating experience across multiple judicial tiers, including the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court. During legislative vetting, he committed to transparent administration while promising enhanced judicial independence and broader justice access for citizens.
The new Chief Justice assumes responsibility for guiding judicial reforms and upholding constitutional governance throughout the country.
