Kudirat Kekere Ekun swears in 57 SANs at the Supreme Court, Abuja

Chief Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun will formally induct fifty-seven new Senior Advocates of Nigeria during Monday's ceremonies. The swearing-in event takes place on September 29 at the Supreme Court's main courtroom as part of legal year activities. Dr Festus Akande from the court's information department announced these arrangements on Sunday from Abuja.

The ceremony marks the official start of the 2025/2026 judicial calendar. Kekere-Ekun will present her annual address reviewing court performance and broader judiciary achievements from the previous term. Legal sector leaders will also deliver remarks about current conditions within their areas.

The Attorney General and Justice Minister will participate alongside the Body of Senior Advocates chairman and the Nigerian Bar Association president. Supreme Court justices began their yearly recess on July 21 following a productive 2024/2025 session. Monday's formal proceedings begin at ten o'clock in the morning.
