Mandago Chooses SHA for MPs Medical Cover

Jackson Mandago, the Senator for Uasin Gishu, wants lawmakers and government workers to join Social Health Authority care. He talked about this at church on Sunday at the AIC Fellowship Annex in Eldoret. The senator thinks moving everyone to SHA would solve many of today's health system problems. His plan aims to address the issues plaguing healthcare recently.

The healthcare system has struggled since changing from National Health Insurance Fund to SHA. People report the new system breaks down often. Mandago believes putting MPs on SHA would improve healthcare across Kenya. His idea would embarrass those who attack SHA and want to return to the old system.

Mandago shared his bold idea with the congregation. He suggested canceling special medical plans for every lawmaker and government employee. Everyone should use SHA instead. He continues backing plans for lasting improvements and urges President William Ruto to ignore negative feedback from critics.

Current lawmakers enjoy excellent health insurance that covers their families with benefits totaling Sh10.65 million yearly. They receive Sh10 million for hospital stays, Sh300,000 for regular doctor visits, Sh150,000 for maternity care, and Sh100,000 each for dental care, eye care, and funeral expenses. Their amazing coverage even includes treatment for injuries during political unrest, violence, wars, coups, or terrorist attacks.
