Government bigwigs packed the MRTV Auditorium yesterday for a special birthday bash. Mandalay University turned 100 years old and threw a massive music party to celebrate. Union Ministers U Maung Maung Ohn, U Min Naung, Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, and Dr Soe Win showed up for the festivities. The event happened at Tatkon, Nay Pyi Taw, and drew hundreds of alumni and local VIPs. Deputy Minister for Education U Nay Myo Hlaing and other department heads also attended the celebration.
The night got exciting when officials started handing out cash prizes. Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing sent K5 million for the famous Mandalay Myoma Band through Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn. The Ministry of Information added another K3 million to the pot for the musicians and performers. Band patrons U Khin Maung Than, U Myat Soe Swe, and U Khin Maung Swe collected the money. Chief Minister U Maung Ko surprised everyone and donated K20 million to help earthquake victims who work at MRTV.
Students from Metta Private High School sang beautiful songs during the concert. The legendary Mandalay Myoma Band played music that had everyone dancing and clapping. Famous vocalists from Kyaukse performed their biggest hits for the crowd. Government ministers gave flowers and presents to every band member after the show ended. MRTV broadcast the entire celebration live on their Friday Night Live Show for viewers across the country.
