Maputo photo show at Mozambique China centre, Zheng Xuan

The Mozambique-China Cultural Centre in Maputo hosted a photographic display marking five decades of bilateral diplomatic ties on Friday. Chinese Embassy officials, the Mozambican Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, and Xinhua News Agency Africa Regional Bureau organized the commemoration. Approximately 200 attendees participated, featuring Secretary of State for Tourism Fredson Bacar and Chinese Ambassador Zheng Xuan. The exhibition presented nearly 150 photographs across three thematic sections. These sections documented historical cooperation moments, Chinese business contributions, and Xinhua's documentary archives.

Bacar acknowledged China's substantial development assistance over the course of a half-century of partnership. Ambassador Zheng highlighted an enduring friendship rooted in shared anti-colonial struggles. The display showcases practical achievements across various sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, and culture. Mozambican News Agency editor Samo Gudo praised the exhibition's portrayal of national transformation since 1975 independence. Officials emphasized how frameworks like the Belt and Road Initiative expand collaborative opportunities between both nations.
