Marvelous' new Daemon X Machina betrays its Armored Core legacy

Marvelous prepares to release Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion on September 5 across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The sequel takes place centuries after the original game's events. Players join the Reclaimers rebel faction against the oppressive Sovereign Axiom military regime. The story centers on Outers, humans possessing special abilities powered by Femto energy. Combat involves battling both Axiom forces and dangerous Immortals created through Femto exposure.

The game replaces massive mechs with smaller combat suits called Arsenals. Developers blend open-world exploration with traditional mission structures similar to Monster Hunter titles. Players can mine materials, collect blueprints, and craft equipment parts throughout the world. Combat features grabbing mechanics that allow players to seize damaged enemies for devastating attacks. Fusion Skills provide weapon abilities, passive bonuses, and defensive techniques that transform player strategies significantly.
