Niger State put a nighttime ban on motorcycle taxis in the capital city Minna. Governor Bago made this rule at a meeting with local groups. He stopped all motorbikes between 6 pm through 6 am every night. The governor created this rule because crime caused deaths around town. Only people needing emergency medical help can use motorbikes during these hours.
The state leader warned that police will treat anyone carrying weapons as a robber. People who bother security officers will face serious trouble. The governor told police to catch people with dreadlocks, cut their hair, and make them pay fines. He asked parents to tell their children about these new rules. The government plans complete enforcement with tough responses against rule-breakers.
