President Emmerson Mnangagwa opened Zimbabwe's largest law school at Midlands State University's Kwekwe campus on Thursday. The ceremony coincided with the university's 26th graduation celebration. The facility features advanced equipment, including moot courts and seminar rooms, for student competitions.
Mnangagwa emphasized that the institution should create problem-solvers rather than merely train lawyers. He stated the school honors liberation heroes who fought for Zimbabwe's independence. Students must develop skills in technology, artificial intelligence, environmental issues, and biotechnology, in addition to legal studies.
The president urged graduates to serve their nation with dedication and patriotism. He stressed that legal education should support Zimbabwe's development goals through Heritage-Based Education 5.0. The Kwekwe campus will eventually accommodate three academic departments focusing on law, agriculture, and built environment studies.
