Bindura University of Science Education awarded degrees to 2,115 students on Thursday as the institution marked its 25th anniversary. President Emmerson Mnangagwa attended the 24th graduation ceremony as Chancellor. Women made up 52 percent of the graduating class.
The ceremony honored graduates across multiple degree levels. Three students earned doctorates while 405 received master's degrees. Another 1,332 completed undergraduate programs, and 25 obtained postgraduate diplomas.
Deputy Minister of Mines Polite Kambamura graduated with distinction in Natural Resources Management. Paidamoyo Chitate received the Chancellor's Award of $1,000 after finishing as the top female student in the Natural Resources program. Vice Chancellor Eddie Mwenje noted the university has transformed from a teacher training college into a comprehensive institution supporting national development goals.
