Mnangagwa kicks off Africa Education Summit

President Mnangagwa opens the third Africa Education Summit today in Victoria Falls. The big event brings together education leaders from across the continent. Global Skills Hub from the United Kingdom, along with African education groups and Zimbabwe's government, helps run it. They met with President Mnangagwa at his State House in Harare last year to plan everything.

The summit's theme is turning better education into real progress for Africa. Everyone will talk about learning the basics, teaching about climate change, using computers, making education work for all kids, building better schools, training teachers, doing research, and paying for it all. Education Minister Tererai Moyo says this meeting will push African education forward in many ways.

This follows earlier summits held in Rwanda and later in the United Kingdom. The President and his entire Cabinet said yes to hosting this important gathering. Moyo points out that beyond just talking, Zimbabwe stands to benefit from new business deals and more tourists coming to visit. He reminded everyone that Nelson Mandela once said education can change the entire world.

Minister Moyo praised the President for his strong support of schools and learning. He mentioned how Mnangagwa created special places for new ideas and business growth across Zimbabwe. These help make sure every student has good places to learn and grow their skills. The President wants young people ready for modern jobs but also able to start their businesses.

The meeting gives countries a chance to form new partnerships and share ideas about fixing problems in schools. For example, they can discuss helping both boys and girls equally and making sure all students have good books and materials. The first summit took place in Rwanda, and the second took place in Nottingham, England.

The previous meeting focused on job skills for the 21st century from both African and European perspectives. It asked governments, community groups, and international partners to invest in better school buildings, teacher training, and extra help for students who need it most. Leaders agreed that schools must change to prepare students for a world driven by technology and global connections.
