Morant Bay pushes Toni Ann Singh Street through the St Thomas council

The St. Thomas Municipal Corporation voted on September 11, 2025, to change St. George's Street in Morant Bay to honor former Miss World Toni-Ann Singh. Mayor Louis Chin presented the proposal and praised Singh's global representation of the parish. Acting Chief Executive Officer Kemeala Esson called Singh a distinguished representative of St. Thomas. The Ministry of Local Government and Community Development will receive the measure for official publication if approved. This recognition celebrates Singh's extraordinary journey from Bath, St. Thomas, to international stardom.

Singh captured the Miss Jamaica World crown on September 21, 2019, at Kingston's Jamaica Pegasus Hotel before winning Miss World 2019 in London on December 14. She became Jamaica's fourth Miss World winner after Carole Joan Crawford in 1963, Cindy Breakspeare in 1976, and Lisa Hanna in 1993. The COVID-19 pandemic extended her reign longer than any recent titleholder. Singh has successfully transitioned into music with her debut single featuring Popcaan. The collaboration "Next to Me" achieved over 27 million YouTube views and dominated dancehall charts after its November 30, 2022, release.
