Mormon church becomes shooting gallery in Grand Blanc

A gunman crashed his car into a Mormon church in Grand Blanc, Michigan, on Sunday, and opened fire with an assault rifle. The attack killed one person and wounded at least 10 others during services attended by hundreds of worshippers. The 40-year-old suspect from Burton died after exchanging gunfire with two responding police officers. A fire engulfed the building following the vehicle collision.

Police Chief William Renye said authorities expect to discover more victims in the damaged structure. Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer condemned the violence at the place of worship. Attorney General Pam Bondi and President Donald Trump received briefings about the incident. The community of 7,700 residents sits 60 miles northwest of Detroit.
