Several nations praised Morocco for leading the Atlantic African States Process during a meeting in Cape Verde. Foreign ministers said the talks follow King Mohammed VI's dream to make the African Atlantic areas peaceful places where everyone shares wealth. Cape Verde's foreign minister, Jose Dias, thanked Morocco for running the group's office in Rabat.
Gambia's top diplomat, Mamadou Tangara, said these talks show Morocco helps all member countries work together. Ministers from Ghana, São Tomé also spoke about how much they like working with other Atlantic nations. The group voted to meet again next September during UN talks in New York.
Morocco started these meetings back in 2010, but they stopped for 13 years until 2022. The King made a speech last November putting Atlantic Africa at the heart of Moroccan policy. Morocco also promised to help Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Chad reach Atlantic waters. All these actions help Morocco become a stronger friend to many African countries.
