Moses Kuria says Gen Z just benched the old guard

Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria praised Kenya's younger generation after thousands rallied to support content creator Kaluma Boy. The fundraising effort took place in Othaya, where youth gathered to help the social media personality care for his ailing father. Kuria described the mobilization as evidence of a new political era in which young people operate independently of established leadership. He compared older politicians to spare tires, suggesting they have become irrelevant in the country's evolving landscape.

Kaluma Boy has documented his struggle caring for his father, who suffered a stroke in August 2024. Medical expenses overwhelmed the family after the parent spent three months in a coma before returning home in December. Senator Okiya Omtatah commended the community response while criticizing government healthcare failures. Buses transported volunteers to the fundraiser as social media users coordinated the grassroots assistance effort.
