Crocus Soundware has launched Motiif: Expedition Brass, a Kontakt sample library centered on trumpet, trombone and euphonium recordings. The instrument employs a polyrhythms engine utilizing Time Machine Pro functionality to generate tempo-synchronized musical patterns through layered MIDI notes, whether performed live via keyboard or programmed within digital audio workstations. Each triggered note produces its own synchronized phrase, merging the adaptability of conventional multi-sampled instruments with the intricate arrangement capabilities typically found in phrase collections.
The interface permits users to layer, blend and reverse articulations through color-coded controls and a crossfade feature for smooth transitions between sound layers. The package contains 7.1 gigabytes of uncompressed audio with 2,790 samples, 90 selectable patterns split between solo and ensemble options, and numerous snapshot presets.
The library requires the full version of Kontakt 6.7 or later and supports VST3, VST2, AU and AAX formats. Launch pricing stands at $42 through late December before returning to the standard $70 rate.
