MoWT Launches 14 Day Rescue from Water Seepage Disaster

The government wants to fix some parts of the big road between Kampala and Entebbe. They will start the work on February 26, 2025. Mr. Bageya Wasiwa, who helps run the roads department, said water under the road has made it weak in some places.

The workers need to repair two main areas. One is at Kajjansi, where cars turn off to the old road. The other is near the Pepsi-Cola factory. Water running under these parts of the road has caused them to break down.

The same Chinese company that built the road first will come back to fix it. They promised to help if anything went wrong with the road. The workers will put special pipes under the ground to take away the water. They will also make new edges along the road to help the rainwater flow away properly.

The work should take fourteen days. They plan to finish everything by March 12, 2025. Many cars use this road every day - about 28,000 of them! The workers will make sure cars can still drive past during the repairs.

Mr. Wasiwa apologized for any inconvenience the work might cause. He wants everyone to know they are working hard to keep the road safe and make it last longer. The workers will do their best to ensure people can still use the road easily during the repairs.
