MP Rages Against Fake Degree Rumors

MP Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo defends Youth Employment Agency head Malik Basintale against education attacks. People question whether Basintale really graduated from university after fake papers spread online. The University of Ghana called the documents forgeries and told citizens to ignore them. Critics worry Basintale lacks proper training to run the job creation agency. Many graduates need work and depend on his programs to find employment.

A fake letter dated May 27 2025 claimed the University of Ghana never awarded Basintale a degree. Social media users shared the false document widely before officials exposed the lies. The university issued a statement June 2 saying the letter was completely made up. Basintale has not spoken publicly about his actual school records since the controversy started. Questions remain about what degrees he earned and from which schools.

Tsekpo told Ghanaians to focus on work results instead of paper degrees. The Hohoe lawmaker compared Basintale to Vice President Bawumia who holds a PhD. He claimed Basintale accomplished more during five months than Bawumia did during eight years of government service. Tsekpo serves on Parliament's Finance Committee and supports performance over certificates. He used the hashtag Results Not Certificate to make his point clear.

The fake letter scandal highlights ongoing debates about hiring qualified people for government jobs. Many wonder if political connections matter more than actual skills and education. Public officials face growing pressure to prove their backgrounds and show measurable achievements. Tsekpo joins other leaders who want performance standards rather than just diploma requirements. The controversy continues as Basintale remains silent about his academic history.
