Mpofu mocks Mutsvangwa's fake ZANU-PF power play

Constitutional law expert Advocate Thabani Mpofu challenges the legitimacy of Chris Mutsvangwa's announcement removing Obert Mpofu from his position as Secretary-General. Mutsvangwa incorrectly referenced Article 9, sections 65 and 67, which address economic development and healthcare functions rather than personnel decisions. The advocate notes that Mutsvangwa's claimed title as Secretary for Information and Publicity and Party Spokesperson does not exist within ZANU-PF's constitutional framework. Any document signed under a nonexistent office holds no legal authority.

Mpofu emphasizes that the party constitution restricts leadership appointments to sessions of Congress only. The First Secretary lacks unilateral power to reassign Politburo members outside these formal gatherings. Section 54 clearly defines presidential powers, while Section 49 limits appointment authority to Congress proceedings. This constitutional analysis applies to both the 2014 and 2022 versions of party documentation.
