MPs Get Kicked Out of KICC Over 50M Rent Mess

MPs cannot enter their offices at KICC because they owe Sh50 million in rent. The PSC sent a letter to KICC head James Mwaura on May 9 asking him to let MPs use the building. PSC money manager Clement Nyandiere promised they would pay the debt before July. He asked KICC to let lawmakers access their offices at the center right away. He also requested that they allow MPs to use COMESA grounds.

Nyandiere wrote that PSC rents rooms for MPs through a deal with KICC. He said their groups worked together for many years, and PSC always paid its bills. He explained that money delays happen because of budget issues. The PSC has already paid Sh134 million this year to KICC. They gave Sh73 million for last year through March. They also paid Sh61 million for the current period up to December.
