Mudenda cracks whip, ZANU PF scrambles to finish year

ZANU PF leadership has directed party divisions to finalize remaining annual objectives before year-end, following policy decisions reached at the recent Mutare gathering. Secretary-General Jacob Mudenda told officials during a strategy session this week that departments must demonstrate commitment to completing fourth-quarter goals outlined in operational blueprints.

Mudenda said strong performance during the closing months would establish momentum for 2026 initiatives under President Emmerson Mnangagwa's guidance. The directive follows the 22nd National People's Conference, where delegates approved economic measures designed to ease financial burdens on citizens. Recommendations included eliminating the Intermediated Money Transfer Tax, a two percent charge on electronic transactions that businesses say increases operational expenses and consumer prices.

Conference participants also backed transitioning to a single-currency framework to simplify management of inflation and monetary supply. Additional proposals focused on expanding irrigation infrastructure, strengthening land ownership security through title deed distribution, and developing food production capacity. Mudenda emphasized that party headquarters must lead implementation efforts across all levels of the organization as outlined in departmental planning documents.
